[09:47:48] <emus> Hello hello! Are lightwitch admins available here?
[13:07:30] <Maranda> Yes
[13:07:41] <Maranda> emus: what's the matter?
[15:41:58] <emus> Hi Maranda, ah thanks. I am one of the initators of a projects which intends to create a curated list of servers for new comers to XMPP.
To build this list we are looking at technical, but also non-technical "usability" criterias. I am looking at your server now and have some questions on setup questions which were not clear from the website to me. Here is the project if you want to read about it: https://invent.kde.org/melvo/xmpp-providers

give me a few minutes then I will write some questions. need to get home first 😅
[16:12:57] <Maranda> 👍
[16:20:54] <emus> So in general, we would like to evaluate the criteria you saw there. What we are trying is to make those points evaluated from a users perspective. So they could go to the website and find and also re-check the information themselves. But also for us to place a reference that "no one is placing false information". It would be great if you could place the following information somewhere on the website? (Or tell me where because I might haven't looked correctly ☺️✌️)

- company behind it (yes no?)
- maximumHttpFileUploadFileSize
- maximumMessageArchiveManagementStorageTime
- professionalHosting (And evtl. where?)
- serverLocations
- is there any direct xmpp or email contact (but no so important as you are reachable here already)
- since when is the service online?

Another thing I saw that the maximumHttpFileUploadStorageTime is 2 days. We really would be happy to see your server in the A category. But therefore we have a minimum of 7 days. Maybe it would be possible to change this? recently www.blabber.im change this also as we ask them and their users voted to increase this to even 14 days. Maybe it could be a trade to reduce the storage to 500 MB which is already a lot? What do you think?

sorry for so many text, I dont wanna annoy you, just trying to get the information straight 😊️
[16:22:12] <emus> Ah, maybe I have a misunterstanding: The 1000 MB HTTP Upload. Is it the file size or the total amount one can upload? Maybe clarification on the website would also be nice
[16:25:25] <emus> Ah, and maybe a clear statement that the service is free of charge. Or is that somewhere pointed out?
[16:57:09] <Maranda> > Ah, maybe I have a misunterstanding: The 1000 MB HTTP Upload. Is it the file size or the total amount one can upload? Maybe clarification on the website would also be nice
1GB is the max file size, files are expired after a few days
[16:59:54] <Maranda> > Ah, and maybe a clear statement that the service is free of charge. Or is that somewhere pointed out?
That's wrote clearly on the site, not sure what could make think otherwise
[17:02:25] <Maranda> Company behind it... Not directly, just an org. Which for now is handled by myself.
[17:04:39] <Maranda> maximumMessageArchiveManagementStorageTime... Unlimited, but the server archives only 20k messages after which the oldest gets discarded. Periodically we may purge inactive accounts and / or datastores as specified in the ToS
[17:06:51] <Maranda> emus: regarding the expiral of 7 days it's possible
[17:09:06] <emus> > That's wrote clearly on the site, not sure what could make think otherwise

No, I "know" but just to have it as a statement. Where is it on the website?
[17:09:12] <emus> Havent seen it
[17:09:40] <emus> ok
[17:10:29] <emus> Can you point the categories on the website? Because I need to reference on each statement. You dont need to do it today, but maybe within the next time, so that I can create a MR to the list
[17:10:45] <emus> > emus: regarding the expiral of 7 days it's possible

Thats great!
[17:10:57] <Maranda> professionalHostin... It's offered but never had any interest so I'll probably remove those bits. Online from 2009, for the xmpp service otherwise 1999 the rest
[17:11:38] <emus> professionalHosting - sorry, this is about if the server itself is hosted professional
[17:13:31] <Maranda> serverLocations, USA NJ at Linode for the XMPP server. Rest of the infrastructure is located in Italy on a business grade uplink.
[17:15:21] <Maranda> But I find the professional hosting definition a bit ambiguous there
[17:17:00] <Maranda> (as the rest of the infrastructure has redundancy and is located in multiple sites with continuity units and all whistles and bells)
[17:18:16] <Maranda> https://lightwitch.org/im-service/tos
[17:18:46] <Maranda> "LW.Org does offer its communication services free of charge to the general public."
[17:24:12] <emus> Ah okay, thanks!
[17:24:39] <emus> 🤦‍♂️️me not able to read the first line
[17:29:17] <emus> But can you point out the information on the website that is not there yet?
[17:31:08] <Maranda> What's missing exactly?
[17:31:24] <Maranda> (or you think to be missing)
[17:32:03] <Maranda> There's also a form for contacts: https://lightwitch.org/contact
[17:34:10] <emus> Statements about those points:

- company behind it (yes no?)
- maximumHttpFileUploadFileSize (and total)
- maximumMessageArchiveManagementStorageTime
- professionalHosting (And evtl. where?)
- serverLocations
- since when is the service online?
- maximumHttpFileUploadStorageTime 2 --> >=7

May you can write this under technical support or so what you just told me?
[17:37:44] <Maranda> Okay I'll see those bits to be included
[17:39:20] <Maranda> Later though, atm I'm outside
[17:40:44] <emus> Okay cool! Sure, take your time
[17:41:58] <emus> They have it for example right upfront (just for your interest), you can place it where you think is best as long as we can link to the page as reference.

https://www.jabbers.one/en/index.php
[18:47:16] <Maranda> I'll figure the best placement for that info no worries
[18:49:49] <emus> 👌️
