Aria Network - https://aria-net.org
LW.Org - https://lightwitch.org

This room is on Matrix (https://matrix.to/#/#lighthouse:aria-net.org) and XMPP

[10:18:05] <Maranda (Aria Network)> roberto: if it 502 it's possible the backend server is either busy or doing automated maintenance tasks.
[10:21:05] <Maranda (Aria Network)> more probably the latter.
[11:58:12] <roberto> It's something like secure connection failed, it's not a webserver white background error page, but the browser failed to connect type. I thought that perhaps you have some very aggressive rate limiting.
[12:05:45] <roberto> I'm asking mostly because I'm considering using your HS and recommending it to my friends. Are you aware of any recurrent stability or performance issues being a visible problem on aria-net.org HS? I sometimes make multiple hours long calls (up to 3h or even 5h), have you observed recurrent call drops or other issues on your HS? Sporadic issues are fine with me, but the HS should mostly work properly, I haven't had such issues with publix XMPP servers I've used (except tchncs.de), but I'm asking just to be sure since Matrix is a different thing. I don't want to use matrix.org, because I wouldn't like the federation to be just one HS...

Without the HTTP error itself, I can't say then but I'd expect a 502 error in case the front end proxy can't communicate with backend servers

For 1v1 calls the HS is only involved in the preliminary handshake for the calls atm, to fetch call data from parts and STUN/TURN configuration. Then the rest is purely client side.
[12:26:52] <Maranda (Aria Network)> So after a call starts it could really even go down.
[12:27:35] <roberto> But you have a TURN server, right? That's what usually causes problems.
[12:27:41] <Maranda (Aria Network)> For what regards the server itself ATM it is very stable
[12:28:02] <Maranda (Aria Network)> roberto: we have a dedicated STUN/TURN server with multiple IPs
[13:45:04] <roberto> You could check the error in the logs, that happened just before 8:15 PM CET yesterday.
[13:46:54] <roberto> So I understand synapse is very stable. What about the TURN server? Ever noticed any hiccups?
[13:48:41] <roberto> I had some problems with TURN on one XMPP server, it dropped calls every half an hour sometimes, sometimes after few hours.
[14:05:43] <Maranda (Aria Network)> > <@_bifrost_roberto=40projections.lightwitch.org:aria-net.org> You could check the error in the logs, that happened just before 8:15 PM CET yesterday.

roberto: nothing

for a normal usage I never noticed any hiccups, but then this is a free service as such there isn't a SLA.
[14:08:53] <Maranda (Aria Network)> You won't be guaranteed you will not have a hick up, neither you can demand it but not just here, everywhere.
[16:29:33] <roberto> What hardware does the server have and where is it hosted?
[16:47:43] <roberto> I just got a 500 error. URI contains AccessDenied.aspx in it.

fixed

The servers are hosted at our facilities.
