[08:52:56] <sytnfh> Hi all, I have read that the base metronome config had to be modified to support VoIP and vidéo calls, but yet I had a successful video call with a friend on another XMPP server, from my unmodified YNH installation. What am I missing? Thx!
<pitchum> sytnfh you and your friend were probably in a very rare ideal networking situation: at least one of you had an IP address directly reachable from the other
<pitchum> possible scenarios: you were both on the same local network, or you had both public IPv6 addresses
<pitchum> melmc you're right, in order to use OMEMO there are some server requirements, but these requirements are very common, and are already met bu yunohost's metronome default configuration
<sytnfh> pitchum: thank you. BTW, my friend and I were not on the same LAN, and we have different ISPs. I (think I) have a IPv6 public address, but I doubt it is also the case of my friend. I conclude that I *have* to change my metronome config. Thx again
<melmc> pitchum: I got the Yunohost account to work with Omemo by chatting using a third account and using a separate client for the Yunohost account and the other account. I'm still unclear as to how exactly the exchange of keys between devices operates. Maybe there was some problem in that regard in my previous attempts?
<melmc> pitchum: Thanks for your response.
<LPS> pitchum: I have an issue where VoIP calls work outside my LAN (on mobile data) but not within it, could that be my issue? Calls will not connect, but text messages work
<LPS> Would someone mind posting a link to the required metronome config changes for voip?
<pitchum> LPS: https://github.com/YunoHost/issues/issues/1607
<LPS> pitchum: thanks!
<Maranda> Ok posting it here also...
<Maranda> Aleks, Bram: does YuNoHost run SASL stringprep profile on passwords before storing 'em into LDAP?
Seems there's a problem when passwords contain unicode characters, see: https://github.com/maranda/metronome/issues/529
